· The first instance on the first generation of computers is currently the second world war occurred, countries that get involved in world war building our computers to maximize the ability to strategically organize owned by the computer.
· In 1946, the first electronic digital computer called ENIAC (Electronic Numeric Integrator And Computer) was built in the United States by John Mauchly and Presper Eckert for use in the military
· In 1950, the EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Automatic Computer) was invented. In 1951, UNIVAC-1 (Universal Automatic Calculator), which is the first commercial digital computer built byEckert and Mauchly for use in trade. The use of vacuum tubes is one reason why the size of this first generation of large computers, and it quickly became hot because a lot of electrical energy used. also use a tube of mercury (mercury) for storage.
· Computer construction EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer) to reduce the use of vacuum tubes. The calculation is also more efficient than the ENIAC. EDVAC use the binary number system and the stored program concept.
· Computer EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator) introduced the use of mercury (mercury)in the tube to keep the memory
· Using vacuum tube technology
· Capable of processing several thousand instructions per second, faster than the movement of mechanical devices
· Capable of storing 10 000 to 20 000 characters
· Use magnetic core memory. magnetic core are metal rings that are small and can provide a magnetic power through one of two directions
· Examples :-
1. ABC – first digital electronic computer( 1937 - 1942 ) by John V. Atanasoff and assisted by Clifford Benry.
2. ENIAC – undertaken by John W.Mauchly dan J.Presper Eskert. Built in 1945 - 1946, beginning the era of excellence.
3. EDVAC, EDSAC and UNIVAC 1, IBM 709 - John Von Neumann, Mauchly and Eskert ( 1951 )
4. IBM 701 ( 1953 )
5. IBM 650 ( 1959 )
